"Elijah was five when I started taking him to church. He was anxious to learn about the Lord. On the last Sunday that he was with me, a pastor, on the car radio, was asking all who wanted to be saved to say the "sinner's prayer" with him. I heard Elijah talking softly in the back seat and turned to see him repeating the prayer. When it was over he said, "I prayed with the man Grandma, now I have Jesus in my heart". I thought it was "cute". Two days later, I stood by his little battered body in the hospital. I realized then that it had been so much more than cute. It had been an eternal choice for Eli.
