My crisis with bulemia came when I was eating very little and taking 28-32 laxatives daily. I was hospitalized and eventually "written off" by a string of psychiatrists. My eating disorder was my "secret friend", my stronghold, my key to sanity. Anorexia is difficult to give up because it is like an "upper" and like any drug, "letting go" is not negotiable. I finally prayed," God, you know the hold this has on me, and that I am afraid to let go, but I am going to give it this one chance. It's up to you."
