In 1984 my mom died after a 3 year bout with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). When her death was close, my wife and I flew back immediately. Mom could not move or speak, and could only hold her eyes open for a short period of time, but her mind was alert. Dad would sit by the bed and start reciting the alphabet. When he came to the letter that mom wanted him to write, she would raise her eyes slightly. Her last message to me shortly before she died was, "I am going to Heaven and I want to see you there." At that moment I saw God-given faith, hope, and love pouring through my mom to me. After mom died, I came to know the Lord Jesus personally at a Bible teaching church. Two people had to die for me to see the truth - Jesus and my mom. I thank God for my mom and dad, all my brothers and sisters in Christ, and for the great privilege of calling Jesus my Lord and Savior.
