3 years ago we learned my wife of 13 years had Huntingtons disease. It was very hard for the family to face. 2 years ago she was put in a nursing home because the condition had advanced to the point that we couldn't care for her. Over those years God has done incredible things in our lives. He tells us in II Corinthians 12:9, that "his grace is sufficent for us", his grace is what sustains our family everyday. When we find hardships financially because of the illness, he provides for us as he promised in Matthew 6:30 and Philippians 4:19. When we get so overwhelmed by the problems we face as a family whose mother is dying he reminds us that everything he allows in our lives is allowed that we might not depend on ourselves, but on God (II Corinthians 1:9-10). God is molding us into vessels for his use, not our own. God's grace will get me and my family through this time, it doesn't mean we won't hurt or have other problems, but we do have someone to go to when the going gets tough.
