Five yrs ago, I was hospitalized for depression. I felt so bad about myself that I thought God couldn't possibly still be there. I was lucky enough to be able to go to a hospital that had a "Rapha" program for Christians. They tried for the first 2 weeks to convince me that God loves me even when I can't. One day I was out in the courtyard alone, trying to sort through all I had learned. The day was dark and cloudy and as ugly as I felt inside. I looked up at the sky and said, "God, is it true? Do you still love me? Are you still there?" At that very moment, the clouds broke and one stream of sunlight came through the clouds. That was the day God "spoke" to me and confirmed Romans 8:38-39 NIV: "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
