I was born in Alexandria, Egypt where I spent my first five years. In 1980 moved to Rosemead, CA. My Dad was working in Kuwait and didn't come until 1981. At Rancho Los Amigos Hospital we found out my brother had Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a genetic disease which begins by age 7 or 8. By early teens the person needs a wheelchair. In 1985, we moved to Torrance, CA. At 11 I found out I also had the disease. I had all kinds of negative emotions and asked God, why me? I was an active person. By God's grace my ability to walk didn't slow down like most people with DMD. I could still walk at 16, but it was becoming dangerous. My arms were too weak to stop a fall. I used an electric wheelchair at school, but walked at home - over 800 miles. I received the Lord at age 17. At 23 I'm still walking. I've learned that through any physical weakness I'm strengthened spiritually. Psalms 73:26.
