I was recently led to Christ and I can say that it truly is a miracle what he has changed in my life.
When I was about eight-years-old my friend’s older brother sexually abused me during the night. My mother and father were not helpful in this situation because of the fact that the beat me. My life was “bad” or so I thought but then skipping forward a few years it got worse. I was in the seventh grade and I was an exact opposite of the “poster child.” I cussed, I was mean, I did bad things too, but worst of all I was depressed and I was cutting my wrist. I didn’t have Jesus and my life was at rock bottom. This behavior continued through eighth grade the summer into freshman year and about two months into high school.
It all ended one day when my music teacher noticed the marks on my arm and knew she had to do something. She asked me about the marks and I poured out everything to her. I knew I could trust her, I knew I needed help, and I knew she could give it to me. After I was finished crying and I finished telling her my problems she asked me if I wanted to go to church with her that weekend. I couldn’t stop thinking why did she just ask me that? I told her my “story” and she asks me if I want to go to church! After thinking awhile I concluded that she must have a good reason for asking that so I hugged her and accepted.
That Sunday I walked in and I looked around at all the people and thought why are they all so happy, what is wrong with these people? During the sermon I knew everyone in that church had something good and I wanted to be apart of it. I knew this when I heard the pastor talking about loving your enemies. What stood out the most was this; Love your enemies! Do good to them! Lend to them! And don’t be concerned they might not repay. Then your reward from heaven will be very great. (Luke 6:35) I thought what is wrong with them love your enemies why don’t they just pound them. With that thought it clicked in as to why it was like all questions were cleared.
Later on I saw a new friend I had just met in school two days before. I then told her how I felt and she explained that the people in church had Jesus and she explained her faith and taught me a lot. I then started going to church and youth group on a regular basis. I was getting very involved and LOVED it. Christ had lifted all temptation to do wrong right off my back; he then lifted me up and dusted me off. I loved my enemies and was a completely new person in everything.
After going to Grace Bible Church for about two months I knew I was ready and I accepted Christ on November 24, 2002.
God has changed my life he did so much and it’s amazing how his power works and I know the Lord will continue to walk the long path of life with me and he will never leave my side. After I was saved the Lord has also helped me to lead two more people to him and I know there will be many more.
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23)
