This is my testimony on how I came to know Jesus Christ as my personal savior. As a child, I went to Sunday school for about 1 yr, and developed a head belief in Jesus from that experience. At the age of 16, I turned away from what I had been taught in Sunday school and following God. I turned to alchohol, and followed in the steps of my father. He was an alchoholic! From that point on, my life continued to spiral downhill as I developed a criminal record with offences such as 35 counts of drunk and disorderly. Also at the age of 16 I became emotionally traumatised in my life. I experienced a rollercoaster ride of high and low mood swings that continued on for around the next 22 yrs of my life. At around the age of 27 I was again challenged about my belief in God, and again I attempted to follow God in my own strength, according to what I understood God to be. I prayed for God to set me free from alchohol, and over the next few months I began to drink less and less, till eventually I was completely set free.I then realised that God was more than just something to believe in. He was a friend that would help me through every situation. I have now been free from the bondage of alchohol for the last 20 yrs and the cycle that was set in place by my father has now been broken, and the legacy that I pass on to my children is one of self control. In Jesus all things do indeed become new!!! Emotionally I have continued to seek Gods’ help. I now live on a stable footing, based upon the rock, which is Jesus. I don’t claim to have no worries, only the ability to face every challenge knowing that Jesus stands by my side. Together with Him, I know that there is nothing that I can face that I can’t get through, with His strength. Ray.
