Elijah's mom had asked me to take him to church with me because she "wasn't ready to go " yet herself. I was glad to take him and even though he was only five when he started going, he was a very quick learner and was anxious to learn all that he could about the Lord. He went to church with me regularly for about three years. On the last Sunday that he was with me, I had the radio on to a new Christian radio station in our town. A local pastor was saying the "sinner's prayer" and asking all who wanted to be saved to say it along with him. I heard Elijah talking softly in the back seat of the van and turned to see him with his head bowed and hands clasped in front of him, repeating the prayer. When it was over he said "I prayed with the man Grandma, now I have Jesus in my heart". I thought it was "cute" but it was not until two days later as I stood by his little battered body in our hospital emergency room after he had been hit by a car, that I realized that it had been so much more than "cute" it had been an eternal choice for Eli. He went home to Jesus that night and my heart aches to see and hold him again, but God has given me the very special gift of knowing that Elijah will be there with the Father waiting until I too join them for eternity.

AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE, WE WILL SERVE THE LORD
