I was raised in a church, and everyone thought that I was a Christian for years. But all the time, I was just playing a part, and searching for something real in other places.
It wasn't easy. I looked at a few other belief systems, and really didn't find what I was looking for. I guess all along I knew that what I really wanted was Jesus, but I didn't want to be a Christian, because I had been hurt by Christians.
Finally, when I was fourteen, my mom sent me to a Bible camp, and I reluctantly went. It was probably one of the best experiences of my life. There was something different in these Christians, and I wanted it. I accepted Christ into my life on July 1, 1991.
God wasted no time. He began to fill me with peace and hope, where before I had just felt hopeless and empty. And He began to use me to talk to other people who had felt the same way as I had before I came to God.
I just graduated from Bible college last week. God has been faithful and wonderful, and if He could change me from a hopeless searcher to a strong and fulfilled person, He can do the same for you.
