I would like to share my story of being born again. I was a no good, rotten, beat up spiritually kid. I was getting detention almost everyday, I was swearing, smoking, drinking, bad grades, living life like people think that they should, without God. I didn't even want anything to do with God. When I read about Jesus' suffering with the whipping, crown of thorns, and being nailed to the cross, I would be like,"Hey, that seems pretty cool, to bad I wasn't there to see it, that would be really fun to see someone die on the cross." That's exactly what my life was like before I excepted Jesus into my life. One of the kid's at my school was saying how great his life was when he started going to this church, like he wanted to go everyday. I thought this kid was crazy, crazy that the even liked going to church. I went to church at the time, I was even an altar boy (a server) to make myself look important. But I never got anything out of the sermons or church for that matter. But when I heared this boy I asked him what church he went to, so that I could see what was so exciting about this church that he was bragging about. To he told me the church and I left at about 9:30 a.m. to go to the 10:00 a.m. service. I go into the church and I ask myself,"Ok, where's the altar boys, or the fancy decorations, or the big organ?" I was going to a Catholic church recently and I didn't know the difference between a Christian and Catholic church. Anyway, I stayed and I saw a man come up to me. I thought he was part of the welcoming commity that they usually have at churches. But, he wasn't part of the welcoming commity, but he was the one of the Pastors at the church. He told me who he was and said that he was glad I came and told me what they were going to do for the morning service (They were going to a pond and baptize people in the pond). After he left the service started with some singing. I noticed that they sang more than one song to start the service, and the songs were more lively than the ones in a Catholic church. After they were done singing I found out that they had a person come up and sing a special song before the sermon. After the person sang their song, the Pastor that introduced himself to me said for everybody to go to the pond (which we call Hiniker Pond) and if they wanted to, to get ready to be baptized. I would like to mention that the Pastor's name was Pastor Dave. After they baptized everyone, the morning service was over. But that's not how I got saved, by watching people getting baptized with water, but a couple weeks later I went to the church again. Then the Pastor Dave read a verse that everybody knew at the time other than me, and I'm sure you know it too. It's John 3:16-"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him shall not parish, but have everlasting life." That verse made me realize why Jesus went through the whipping and dieing on the cross, he did that so that we would be closer to God and if we excepted Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior, we may have eternal life with our real father. God, our heavenly father. That verse got me right in the heart, and right there they had an altar call, and I went up and gave my life to Jesus. Right now, I don't drink or smoke, I havent said a single swear word, I havent had detention one day, my grades are where they should be, and I have excepted God and Jesus and worship them with my mind, heart, body, and soul. If you havent excepted Jesus into your life, read John 3:16 and, without a shadow of a doubt, your will feel the fire of God and except Jesus, and know why he died on that old rugged cross, he died for you, and he died for me. Thank you for reading this story, May God Bless you for the rest of your life.
