(People keep telling me that fifteen lines is not enough space for a testimony. You know what? They are right. But since our web site is set up to receive only fifteen lines, I edit them down to that size and then Chris, our technician, has made it possible for you to read the rest of the story. Here's the rest of the story.) "As I was saying--the little song that should have been used to drown out my 'worm song' was this one: "Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong, they are weak but He is strong." I spoke in the West Point Chapel a number of years ago. After the service, the chaplain told me this story: "Two sisters had lived most of their lives on a little island in the Hudson River, adjacent to the West Point campus. Many cadets came to a Bible study that they conducted. Those sisters gave the world two well-known songs. One was "This little light of mine. I'm going to let it shine..." The other was "Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so..." For years "Jesus loves me..." was sung in the West Point Chapel by all of our great military leaders. That was the voice that should have been replaying all those years. That is the voice of the Bible. Jesus loves me is what God is saying from Genesis to Revelation. And He loves me just because He chooses to love me. Romans 5:7-11 finally broke through. It says, "For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man will some dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us..." It was a great day when I finally realized that I didn't need to seek God's approval--I already had it--through Jesus Christ, and I serve Him because He loves me not to make Him love me. Don. That is my Valentine's Day card to you. And today I can say with all honesty, "I love you--all of you."
