Two years ago I was one of the worst crank addicts in the world. I lived for the stuff. I had three children, ages 16, 8, and 18 months, but it seemed as if I loved the drug more than my own children. We were about to be evicted from the third or fouth home we'd lived in and we didn't even have any electricity. I was running an extension cord from my aunts house who lived next door. I was probably one of the most miserable people on the face of this earth. I was so tired of feeling alone. I was tired of the drug life but I didn't know how to rid myself of it. Now, we had a community action program here in Kingsburg, California called Kcaps. They helped people with food, shelter and other things like that. But their main purpose was to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ and to bring Christ to people who needed him.(which is all of us!!!) Anyway, I went down to their office and literally dropped to my knees asking for help. Those wonderful people at Kcaps never judged me. They prayed with me and when I left their office that day I felt as if a ton had been lifted from my shoulders. A few days later a preacher and his wife adopted my kids and me for Christmas. When they brought my kids gifts, they brought me the most precious gift of all....they brought me the opportunity to serve God and the opportunity to have everlasting life through Christ our Lord. I said the Sinner's Prayer with the minister and accepted Christ into my life that very day. My life has never been the same. I have been sober for two years on Dec. 6, 1999 and I now help minister to other addicts to get them to accept Christ and to go into Rehab. I give my testimony at local churches to let them know that all things are possible through Christ our Lord and that miracles take place every day in our world. I'm living proof of that. Today, I am in school for accounting with excellent grades. My children are the happiest they have ever been. My son, who is now 10, accepted Christ into his heart this summer at church camp. God continues to touch his life each and every day. My baby, who is now 3 1/2, says her prayers every night and before meals, she grabs our hands and says her prayers. My oldest daughter, who is 18 and a senior, made the Honor Roll, first time ever, after going to school for 13 years. Our lives are blessed every day by Our Lord's graciousness and Mercy. He walks beside me everyday and when I hit rough spots in my life, instead of turning towards illegal substances, I turn toward the Word. It's the best advice I've ever gotten. God bless all of you.
