The greatest Christmas I can ever recall was in 1985. I was attending Southern Batist Theological Seminary. My wife and I had two small boys at the time. As a seminary student money was tight. My wife was a student at University Of Louisville. We did not have money to buy Christmas for our boys. We had explained all of this to them. We also needed a washer and dryer. My wife had to go to the laundry mat to do laundry. We were praying that God would make a way for us to get a washer and dryer. My aunt was a lunchroom lady at the elementary school our two boys attended. She placed our names on a list for people that needed help for christmas. Well I got a call from a church wanting to know if we could use some help for christmas. I said no that we were ok. Which we were compared to some folks. I let my pride get in the way. Well my anut found out that I would not except the help. She made me eat crow. She told me I was always preaching that if someone wanted to help you and you refused you had robbed them from a blessing. She had me dead to right. So I had my wife call these people and tell them that we could use some help. The people from that church had a man in the church that work for G.E. They brought us a new washing machine and almost new dryer. The story does not end there they also took my wife shopping and spent $100.00 on food and clothes for the boys. They were also going to send someone to hook up the washer and dryer if I did not know how to wire the house for 220 or run water lines. Christmas has not been the same since. Praise God I listened to my aunt. God will answer prayer but we have to be willing to lay aside our pride when he does.
