>A few months before Christmas in 1991, my family of three lost everything in>a fire and were living with my husband's Mother in a small 2 bedroom mobile >home.>I can remember feeling sorry for myself because we were without a home of>our own.>We weren't Christians at the time.>My husband's Mother didn't really like Christmas and wouldn't even hear of >us putting up a tree. This was depressing because we had a four year old>son.>During this time there were many American's that had gone to go to Saudi >Arabia for the Desert Storm upheaval, and I remember the moment that the>reality set in that even though I was not in my own home, I was not in a>foreign land away from my family.>Despite our homeless status, this turned out to be a very special Christmas >indeed, for the events we experienced during the weeks just before Christmas>would lead us to a lifetime of Peace. I'll share just one of the >events.....>We were invited to a Christmas party at our friends, Rick and Cindy's, home.>During this party God showed Himself to us as we had not seen Him before.>I remember as we sat chatting, that Rick went outside to get some air. He>later told us that as he reentered the house he noticed an envelope taped to >the front door..nothing was written on it and it contained a certain amount>of money.>He asked everyone there if they had placed the envelope there on the door,>and all replied no.>He then privately asked his wife, Cindy, what she thought they should do >with it. She said that she felt the envelope should go to my>husband,Tracy.>What she didn't know was that earlier in the evening, Tracy had asked the >men at the party to pray and believe with him that he would be able to>purchase a study Bible for me for a Christmas gift that year.>The cost of the Bible that he wanted for me was exactly the amount that was >in the envelope!>Rick and Cindy told us later that they asked every neighbor, relative, and>friend if they had placed the envelope on their door, and each had told them>they had not.>Christmas is a time of miracles for many people all over the world and in >many different ways.>That night was a turning point in our lives. It's hard to explain but even>though we had lost every earthly thing, it had caused us to realize that all>we really have is Jesus.>We had been on drugs for 18 years but that night, we made a commitment to>break free and never touch them again, and we haven't. (Another miracle)>It has now been nine years and Tracy and I are still clean and more than>ever sold out for Jesus.>Thank you Father for giving us the greatest gift of all.....Your Son Jesus. >Janet> > Click HERE to return to the edited story Click HERE to create a banner that links to this story!
