My family was a traditionally religious Irish family. I was brought up in Cork city on the south coast of Ireland and I have two younger brothers and a younger sister. When I was very young, my family would all go to mass every sunday and we all went to Catholic primary and secondary schools. I always knew God existed and that His son was called Jesus and I suppose when I was preteens, my parents had a certain faith in God in so much as they trusted Him and prayed to Him. This wasn't a saving faith though. As a became a teenager, things changed in my family as they do. One by one we all stopped going to mass since nowadays, the catholic mass in Ireland is very much dead. I was still searching to fill that "God shaped" hole in my life and began to do yoga with my sister. At this stage I also began to study biology and geology and theories of evolution and Pangea became my "truth". I went on to do a four year degree in zoology at the National university of Ireland and at that stage, I was doubtful that God even existed. At this stage, I was very involved in the college social scene. In Ireland, kids drink so much and I often drank til I was sick or completely drunk. In my summer of third year at college, I went off to California to do student work experience and my life made a 180 turnaround While I was in California I started to hang out with three girls I met through work. I knew there was something different about these girls and when I asked them about it, they told me about their Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. Why had nobody told me this before I asked?? They continued to share with me and tell me about their Christianity and on the 30 August 1998, I accepted Jesus Christ into my heart and life as MY personal Saviour. I am now 22 years old and back in Ireland living with my family. I am a Christian for over a year and I praise God every day for saving me! He has blessed me so abundantly over the past year. He has tested my faith and strengthened me. He held my hand when I had a bad accident last summer which left me needing physiotherapy for three months. He saved my sister just three months ago PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME. I will leave you with a verse. Hebrews 11:1 Faith is being sure of what you hope for and certain of what you do not see. You can know about Jesus til the cows come home but it is not until you take that life changing step and give your life to Him that you become His and gain His righteousness through His death.
