My Testimony The purpose of this testimony is to provide a true account of the wonderful benefits that will result from accepting Christ as your Savior. I am 70 years old and was born poor on a farm in coastal Carolina during the week of the stock market crash in 1929. My parents lost all their savings and the depression was horrible. My oldest brother (20 years older) was a Baptist preacher and he took me to church on Sundays with him during the 1930s, which was my only opportunity of getting off the farm. At the age of 13, I accepted Christ as my savior. I finished high school at 15 and immediately got a job with the telephone company. I was very naïve, but I did have a good knowledge of biblical right and wrong. The man who hired me was the District Manager at the telephone company and was Jewish. While I did not know it at the time, looking back, he was probably a homosexual. One day he sent me to another town to work on telephone equipment there and told me to stay with a friend of his who was also Jewish and the Manager of a hotel that was under construction. I did as instructed and when I met this man in his home at about 4:00pm, he said we should lie down and rest. He then said he would like to lie down with me and soon he was laying on top of me feeling my genitals through the covers. Fortunately, (by the intervention of God) a thunder storm came up and he realized that the he needed to put the windows down in his hotel and left the house. That gave me the opportunity to call a taxi and go to a motel. Soon he was at my door and told me that he did not mean anything by what had happened and I told him to forget about it and that I would feel more comfortable at the motel. When I returned to the town where the District Manager was located, we never spoke about the incident and I never mentioned it to anyone. However, I was soon transferred to a undesirable town. When I became 17, I quit and joined the USMC for a 3 year enlistment. I signed up in the reserves and shortly after I was discharged, the Korean war broke out and I was ordered to active duty in September of 1950. I sought to be admitted to Army Officers Candidate School in the Army to get a commission and two or three days before I was to report to the Marines, I was admitted to the Army OCS, where I got a commission and spent a career in the Army. Moreover, I got an education in the army and had a master’s degree when I retired. I retired in 1969 from the Army and went to Law School and worked for the Federal Government until I retired again in 1991. I have a son and 2 grand children and am a millionaire. During the time I worked for the government, I was a deacon in my church and a Sunday school teacher. I have also had a lot of health problems such as a heart attack and a bypass operation, but all these incidents only served to strengthen my faith in God. The object lesson from my life is that I could so easily have become entrapped into the sin of homosexuality, by not moving to the motel when I was faced with the advances of this hotel manager. As God has promised, when sin confronts us he will make a way of escape. If I had gone along with these homosexuals, I would have missed so many blessing from God throughout me entire life. Everyday, I receive blessings from God so numerous that I do not even recognize many of them. I was in combat in the Korean and Vietnam Wars and God protected me. God has truly rewarded me for fleeing from sin in the crucial situation I described above. He will do the same and even more in your life, if only you will accept Christ and make him Lord of your life. You have everything to gain and your only loss is the horrible effects of sin.
